GLICK, HELEN RUTH WEIL - The Encyclopedia of Cleveland HistoryGLICK, HELEN RUTH WEIL (9 June 1907 - 21 Nov. 1997) was a lifelong community volunteer committed to continuing education. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Della (Lenz), a homemaker and volunteer, and Henry Weil, an insurance broker. After attending Washington University in St. Louis, she earned her B.A. from Radcliffe College in 1927. She married Julius Leonard Glick in 1929 and moved to Shaker Heights. During World War II, she served as a Red Cross instructor. She was trustee of Child Guidance Centers Inc. (see GUIDANCE CENTERS), and volunteered for the United Way, working on their allocations panel. She was past president of the Shaker Heights PTA, and of the Women?s Association of Cleveland College and chairwoman of the Book Sale of CWRU?s Association for Continuing Education. She helped found the Radcliffe/Vassar Tour of Homes and sought scholarships for students with the Radcliffe Club of Cleveland, of which she was a member. She was one of the earliest supporters of the Living Room Learning courses at CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY. Mrs. Glick was a world traveler and interested in the arts and gardening. She was a member of the Oakwood Club and Suburban Temple. She and her husband had two children, Nancy and John. Mrs. Glick died at the Reinberger Center at Judson Retirement Community.
