TREMONT WEST DEVELOPMENT CORP. (TWDC) - The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History

TREMONT WEST DEVELOPMENT CORP. (TWDC), a nonprofit citizens' group founded in 1979 by MERRICK HOUSE SOCIAL SETTLEMENT, helped stabilize and revitalize the TREMONT area, a transitional neighborhood. In its community organizing, the corporation emphasized housing renovation, crime prevention, and neighborhood economic development. Grants from local organizations and city and federal monies funded the organization. The corporation's aim in 1992 was to attract more moderate-income homeowners to reside in the community, discouraging absentee ownership. In 1992 Tremont West Development Corp. was at 2190 Professor St.; its executive director was Jenine Colozza.
