REINTHAL, DAVID F. (28 April 1915-17 Nov. 1992) businessman and educator, was born in Cleveland, the son of Manuel and Cora Fuld Reinthal. He graduated from UNIVERSITY SCHOOL in 1932 and attended Yale University, receiving his BA degree four years later. Reinthal joined the family business, Bamberger-Reinthal Co., manufacturers of knitted outerwear, and eventually became plant manager and vice president-treasurer of the company. He also conducted local industry negotiations with the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union for 15 years. During WORLD WAR II, he was an intelligence officer with the Army Air Corps, returning to Bamberger-Reinthal after the war. Always interested in education, Reinthal left the business in 1965 to become a teacher, beginning his new career at University School where he taught seventh and eighth grade social studies. In the classroom he utilized his past experience to develop activities in economics, business, careers, and current and historic events as teaching tools to enhance his students learning. He was still working as a substitute teacher when he died.
Reinthal married Jean H. Kaynes 23 Aug. 1949. After their 1951 divorce, he married Dorothea J. Nicholson 23 June 1953, and they had three children, Peter, Douglas, and Susan Jennings. He died at his home in PEPPER PIKE and was cremated.
