IRELAND FOUNDATION - The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History

The IRELAND FOUNDATION was founded in 1951 in Cleveland by MARGARET ALLEN† (Mrs. R. Livingston) IRELAND†. The independent foundation has emphasized NURSING, secondary and HIGHER EDUCATION, HOSPITALS & HEALTH PLANNING, and MUSIC. The Ireland Foundation donates to the same local organizations (no individuals) each year and does not consider new appeals. In 1994 foundation assets were almost $8.74 million, with expenditures of over $718,450 for 50 grants. Louise Ireland Humphrey served as foundation president and treasurer in 1995; officers included other family members.
