DAILY MORNING NEWS - The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History

The DAILY MORNING NEWS may have been a regeneration of the EAGLE-EYED NEWS-CATCHER, since publisher Gage Mortimer Shipper had been associated with David L. Wood in the publication of that newspaper. Further evidence is provided by a reference in the CLEVELAND HERALD of 2 Aug. 1841, stating that the Morning News had been recently enlarged into a sheet of "respectable size." By 23 Nov. 1841, however, the Herald reported that the Morning News had been merged with the Daily Mercury into the Daily Mercury & News.
