CLEVELAND STARS - The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History

The CLEVELAND STARS were a Negro League baseball team in the short-lived East-West League in 1932. Few details are known about the team, but they finished in last place with an 8 and 14 record.

When Cum Posey, owner of the Homestead Grays, formed the East West League at the beginning of the 1932 season, Lem Williams and Artie Savage acted as sponsors for a Cleveland franchise. They were awarded the Stars, who appeared to play most of their home games at LUNA PARK. The East-West League folded before the end of summer, which meant that most of the teams in it failed as well.
